01
Make complex AI creation approachable
Different AI models have different capabilities, controls, terminology, and costs. Whirl needed to make switching between them feel familiar.
02
Make a changing competition understandable
Submission, community voting, champion selection, and next-theme voting happen at different stages. The current state and next action needed to stay clear.
03
Give creators a reason to return
Whirl needed to connect creation with competition, community, identity, and progression instead of making generation a one-time action.
KEY PRODUCT DECISIONS
01
One Studio for 20+ AI models
Different models support different capabilities and settings. I created one consistent Studio with shared prompting, model discovery, credit context, and output controls while revealing model-specific settings only when relevant.

02
One Daily Theme, multiple competition states
Submission, community voting, champion selection, results, and next-theme voting happen at different stages. I designed one persistent Daily Theme destination whose primary action, countdowns, content, and results change with the current competition stage.

03
Progress beyond winning
If progression only rewarded the Top 5, most creators would have little sense of momentum. XP, streaks, quests, achievements, rankings, and rewards give creators visible progress even when they do not win.

ONBOARDING EXPERIENCE

1. Establish the product promise

Create anything with AI

One app / 20+ AI models

A new challenge every day

5. Build trust with familiar names
SUPPORTING PRODUCT SYSTEMS

A submitted Daily Theme post connects creative output to competition context and conversation.

Notifications keep community activity visible without interrupting the creation flow.

Profiles turn individual outputs into a persistent creative identity and body of work.
RESPONSIVE PRODUCT SYSTEM
Whirl uses the same product logic across platforms, but the layout, navigation, content density, and action placement adapt to the device instead of simply scaling the mobile interface.
Mobile

Mobile Daily Theme keeps the current competition and primary action in focus.
Desktop

Desktop Daily Theme exposes broader competition context without changing the underlying product logic.
